Many courses filled quickly this winter, so register today! February 24 is the last day to register for our first session.

Adult Courses (ages 18+)

RISD CE Online offers accessible, flexible and immersive learning experiences that you can access anywhere. Join us online to stay on track with a certificate program, explore a new subject, or take your very first course in art and design. Courses are designed especially for people with busy schedules and active lives, and are taught by professional artists, designers and makers. We’re open admission—we welcome everyone! Courses run from March 1–May 24, 2021.

Teen Courses (ages 13–17)

From animation, illustration and moviemaking to fashion design, drawing and art school prep, some attend teen online courses for fun and enrichment, while others have a more academic goal in mind. These online courses provide a strong grounding in the visual arts and encourages creative and personal growth through self-expression. Teen online courses run from March 6–May 22, 2021.

RISD Advanced Program for High School Students

While Rhode Island School of Design has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 RISD Pre-College program and we will not be able to host in-person classes this summer, the good news is that RISD’s Advanced Program for High School Students will be available to help students develop as artists and grow their college application portfolios.

Most courses will be taught asynchronously through our online course management system, giving you the flexible and high-quality learning experience that you can access anytime, from anywhere. Please visit our Registration Help page for additional information and resources.

Throughout RISD’s Advanced Program for High School Students, students will interact with their instructor and peers in two ways: through live Zoom sessions and through our online course management system. The instructor uses a mix of live and recorded video sessions to respond to student images and discussion posts, invites students to share in progress work, presents projects and ideas, and connects one-on-one and in small groups—providing direct and responsive support for advanced learning.

This is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with a tight-knit community of builders, makers and creators; update your job skills to advance your profession; and continue learning and creating. If you are interested in art in design—no matter what level of experience or time commitment—we have the program for you.
