Get to know Matthew Manning, a RISD Continuing Education instructor for animation and stop-motion courses:

Matthew started animating as a child with a Super 8 camera in his parent’s garage. He attended California State University Long Beach, where he studied radio/television/film and minored in speech communications.

While working at the Museum of Tolerance as a researcher and film and video editor, he worked on The Long Way Home, winner of the Academy Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary in 1997. During his animation career he has worked in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Korea and Spain. His work has appeared on MTV, Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network. He has animated projects such as Celebrity Deathmatch, Robot Chicken and Moral Orel. Manning has suckered you in to buying products from many of the commercials he has worked on, some of which are Honda, Converse, All laundry detergent, Beringer wine, Brisk iced tea, and McDonald’s.

A few years back he animated a Super Bowl commercial. He earned his MFA in cinema at Mount St. Mary’s University and has since been teaching full time while taking freelance animation work and managing his own production company, Miracle Baby Productions.
