Meet Timothy Banks, instructor for RISD CE course Illustrating Book Covers
“My journey to RISD Continuing Education began with a career that has always balanced professional illustration and education. For more than two decades, I’ve created books and illustrations for publishers and clients while helping others grow creatively through teaching. When the opportunity to teach at RISD CE arose, it felt like a wonderful chance to bring those two parts of my career together.”
Throughout Illustrating Book Covers, students explore how to create compelling cover illustrations that capture a story, connect with readers, and stand out in today’s publishing market. Drawing from real publishing projects and experience working with authors, editors, and art directors, Timothy helps students develop portfolio-quality work while gaining insight into the creative process behind professional book illustration.
