It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Elizabeth Gourlay, talented artist and long-time Continuing Education instructor. In her 14 years of dedicated teaching with CE, she impacted the learning experience and creative practice of many painting and applied color students. Elizabeth remained delighted by her students’ work and engagement both in-person and online. Her life, work and accomplishments are celebrated in a documentary film and can also be seen on her website.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Elizabeth on Saturday, July 27, 2–5 pm at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Remarks will start in the Stanley Works Center at 2:30 pm.
The museum’s memorial exhibition Elizabeth Gourlay: A Tribute is open now and runs until Wednesday, July 31.
