Art School Preparation
Our teen Art School Preparation certificate program is for students interested in a future in visual art or design. It is never too early to begin creating a first-rate high school portfolio. This program is intended to supplement a traditional high school art program by making more advanced courses available. It focuses on developing skills and techniques in critical foundation processes such as drawing, painting and sculpture, as well as other areas of 2D, 3D and digital design. Challenging projects in these areas prepare students for the highly competitive world of art and design.
To earn the RISD CE Certificate in Art School Preparation, students must complete a minimum of 108 contact hours, within three years, as follows:
- 36 contact hours in 2D Design classes (Y2)
- 36 contact hours in 3D Design classes (Y3)
- 36 contact hours in courses of the student’s choice
