For kids ages 6 to 12, RISD CE classes provide a strong grounding in the visual arts and encourage creative growth through self-expression. Students are taught by outstanding educators, and get to experience RISD’s unique facilities, including studio space, the RISD Museum and the RISD Nature Lab.
Each half-day or full-day class creates a dynamic environment where students expand their creative minds, build self-confidence and establish a foundation of technical skills. In the summer, kids can enjoy our one-week day camps, or choose from dozens of individual classes in a wide variety of topics.
COURSES FOCUS ON THESE AREAS:
Brush, pencil and color your way to artistic expression with classes in drawing, painting and illustration. The world is a wide-open canvas!
Build, sculpt, sew it: Industrial design, sculpture, fashion and architecture … it’s all about taking shape!
Gain technical skills with classes in digital image making, animation and photography.
STEM + Art = STEAM. Want to drive ideas into creative motion? Add the Arts to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
RISD CE’s engaging and educational classes for kids are offered on weekends during the school year—even during school vacation weeks and summer. Open-ended projects and lessons encourage confidence, and classes utilize RISD’s unique facilities.
Kids ages 6 to 12 are invited to join us for one-week full-day camps offered during school vacations in winter, spring and summer. Camps are held at RISD’s Tillinghast Place campus in Barrington, RI or on the RISD campus in Providence.
