Parking on the RISD Campus:
Daytime classes: Bring your registration statement with you each time you attend class in order to receive the discounted rate available at some Metropark lots. You will need to check with the attendant for the exact rate and to find out if a discounted rate for RISD|CE students is available. RISD Staff parking lots during the workday (M-F) are for RISD employees only and CE students are not allowed to park in them.

Parking for CIT:
Free parking is available during evening classes only. You may use the Metropark Lot on Pine Street between Eddy and Garnet Streets. You are allowed to enter after 6pm. You will be asked to show your course registration statement upon entering the lot.

You may use RISD parking lots after 6pm weeknights and on weekends, except in spots designated as reserved for specific purposes, including “RISD Authorized Vehicles Only.” Your car will be towed if you park in any of these reserved spots, or if you block in other parked cars. RISD is not responsible for damage or theft to vehicles parked in RISD lots.

From RISD phones dial ext. 6666 or (from the outdoor blue emergency phones) simply pick up the receiver to be connected to Public Safety. In an emergency on campus, a call to 401 454-6666 initiates a faster response than a 911 call.

RISD|CE maintains five computer labs. For lab hours, locations and specifications, visit

RISD|CE offers tutoring sessions in PC to Mac or Mac to PC computing. You can schedule a tutorial Monday through Friday from 9am-5:30pm by contacting Dean Abanilla, Technology Specialist, at 401 454-6727 or

Students in courses meeting 18 hours or more may make tax-exempt purchases with a 10 percent discount on art supplies at the RISD Store and the RISD Store 3D. To receive these discounts, you must present your registration statement (emailed to you upon registration) and a photo ID at the time of each purchase.

In general, CE students in courses meeting 36 hours or more qualify for educational discounts on software and hardware purchases. Eligibility requirements may vary, depending on the manufacturer or vendor. Usually, the manufacturer or vendor will require you to email or fax a copy of your registration statement.
